Canadian National Open at the 'Plex.

What a weekend!

John wins Top Comp, and Cory Runner/ups in Stock/Combo and Super Comp. Cory also wins the gamblers race on Saturday.

A weekend that dreams are made of as all three cars made the finals on Sunday. John got his first ever win in Top Comp defeating Scott Taylor in the final with a great. 015 light and 7.62 on a 7.62 dial. John went into eliminations in the #7 position with a 7.59 best and ran between 7.59 and 7.66 all weekend. We had to deal with blustery conditions including 30-40 mph winds that tore down the Speedzone tent on Sunday. Before the final round all the racers had to weather an hour and a half rain delay. Cory was on a roll on the weekend with a dominating win in the 40 car non-electronics "Gamblers" race, and continued by making the finals in both Combo and Super Comp. Both fields were on the small side with less than 10 cars in both, but the competition was tough in both. In the Combo, Don Elgin got the best of Cory with a 15/1000ths starting line advantage, which ended up to be the margin of victory. Cory was very disappointed as he was in the double '0's in rts. throughout the weekend, but still walked away with the lion's share of the cash. In Super Comp, He went to the final as a freshman against rookie Ashley Ziarko from Alberta. She was .02 at the tree to Cory's .057rt and Cory broke out trying to catch Ashley. Cory, Buzz and John would like to thank Lucas Oil and all their other sponsors for supporting the team in 2004

The Evans racing stable hits the Eagle Motorplex for the first National Open of the season. Both Cory and John have had considerable success at the desert facility so both have high expectations for the weekend. It is expected that there will be 10-20 cars in Top Comp and Super Comp and 12-25 cars in the Super Stock/Stock Combo. Check back at the end of the weekend for all the results.
