LUCAS OIL EVENT

Boise, Idaho

The first test of the 2004 season was this past weekend at Boise. Cory was competing in Super Comp and Stock Eliminator, and John was battling in Top Comp.

John Evans Recap---- In Top Comp, John ran in the mid 7's with a best of 7.665 to sit #20 out of 42 Top Comp competitors. In round one he defeated Jeremy McGhee. In round two, he had to face Mark Tyacke. John had a great .013 light and a 7.66 on a 7.65 dial in for a very strong .023 package. In the third round, he faced Division 6 2003 Top Comp R/U, Jeff Devey. John had another good package, this time a .029. Devey broke out on the top end taking the stripe. Devey could not catch Evans and get the win based on John's package as Devey had a .033 light. In the 1/4's John's great lights failed him, as he had a .080 light, but he still had a chance for the win, as his opponent, Tracy Holt only went .071 green. Unfortunately, John took way to much stripe, and went .017 under his 7.66 dial in giving away the race. Holt could only go a 7.446 on his 7.39 dial. While he was happy with his results from the weekend, he is not happy about letting that round get away. The next race for the Lucas Oil sponsored team is in three weeks at Mission Raceway for their Lucas Oil event.

Cory Thompson Recap---- After qualifying, Cory ran a career best .760 under in the E/SA Firebird to sit # 42 out of 56 qualified entries. He had the tough task of taking on Cal Method in round one. Cal got the best of Cory in round one but lost in round three. In Super Comp the qualified field was laddered after round one one of random pairing elimination's. Unfortunately for Cory, he did not get past round one. Cory did go to the second round in the "Electronic's Shootout" Friday night, but red lit his chance away in round two.
